News: Owners have $40 million plan for Joyland

Posted at 12:56 PM EST (1756 GMT)

Mar. 6th, 2006 -- Wichita's Joyland amusement park has been closed since 2004, but new owners of the property say a $40 million long-term renovation plan can turn around the struggling park's fortunes.

The long-term plan includes a waterpark and resort hotel, but the T-Rex Group hopes the people of Wichita will support the project. They are hoping that the American Coaster Enthusiasts will help with the restoration of the park's historic Roller Coaster, and will be meeting with Chance-Morgan Rides and insurance representatives to see which rides should remain at the  park or be removed.

For much more information on Joyland's Restoration, see: MSNBC.com.

Now this is exciting! I'm a coaster enthusiast and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to help with a thing like this. I'm not sure how far I am from Wichita though. I should only be a few hours. I wonder what kind of condition it is in right now. It looked great in 2003. I wish them the best.
