News: Great Adventure giving away free tickets

Posted at 9:53 AM EST (1453 GMT)

Mar. 15th, 2006 -- Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ is giving away 45,000 tickets for the park's opening weekend, March 31-April 2 to celebrate the chain's 45th Anniversary.

In an unprecedented move, Six Flags Great Adventure has set up a special website that went live this morning so you can register for 2 free tickets to use on March 31, April 1, or April 2...while supplies last, of course.

"We want families to know that a dramatically different adventure awaits them this season at Six Flags Great Adventure," said Ron Sevart, the park's vice president and general manager. "To kick off our 45th anniversary celebration, we're inviting 45,000 guests to experience the greatest family entertainment experience, remember all of the memories they've shared with us throughout the years, and create new moments that they'll cherish for a lifetime thanks to the innovative new rides, characters and attractions they'll find only at Six Flags."

Carowinds did something similar last year where you could bring up to 8 people in the park on a certain day for free.

It was the biggest crowd you'd ever seen!!!

This was a great idea for the park. It will really get people to come for the opening weekend.

Great promo idea. I KNOW the park is going to blow people away opening weekend; if they had any doubt they can't, they wouldn't do this promo.

Right. I used to always book trips in May, but now I'm going to start visiting parks in late August and weekends in September. Only problem with this, is if a major ride breaks down like KK, it's usually down for the rest of the year. So it's really luck when it comes to riding rocket coasters. The woodie, yes, it will probably be running later in the year.

They have over 10 other new coasters to choose from. They advertised that El Toro is coming, not that it is open yet. The guests could just deal it.
