Aw, I always thought ERT meant "Exclusive Ride Time." Oh well.
And yeah, it's not really news, other than SF is stepping out of its little box and doing something that other parks and park chains have done. I would say this isn't characteristic of a SF park prior to this year... to go the extra mile.
Also, I'm surprised to see the absence of the contest of being the best "David," in relation to the "David and Goliath" Bible story. The best David(s) will ride first, etc.

/ Well, you would be correct. ERT in fact DOES stand for "exlusive ride time," not "early ride time."

Actually I've heard ERT referred to as Early and Exclusive ride times by different parks. In the context of what SFOG was saying, they are saying "early" IMO.
And as far as this not being news, I personally do find it news because I don't recall SFOG ever doing something like this for their passholders.

it does.. b/c ert can occur before, during, or after a park's operation...
some parks are just lazy and call it early ride time if it is before the park opens.. but ACE ERT's are also after the park closes as well, and we dont call it ART - after ride time...

I'm planning on stopping by that week, as its my spring break. Hopefully I can't get a quick ride before the park opens, then maybe a few more right after and then leave.

Why do they need so much time to test the ride? They were testing it last weekend and reports has it that it was flying. Why not a soft opening for this coming weekend? Do they need that 3 weeks so that they can install trims on the ride??

^ Most parks require something like 40 hours of testing before they can open it to the public.
That's the figure I was told by a ride op at Dollywood anyway.

40 hours divided by a week or two it makes sense. Only run the coaster a few hours a day.
