Yes, 2 deaths - and it hasn't been open that long. A very intense ride but I wouldn't expect this sort of thing.

Well, the problem is that people underestimate how intense the ride will be. Despite that there are warning signs ALL OVER THE PLACE, even in the two preshows where they specifically state conditions that if you have, you shouldnt ride, people still ride anyway because 1. they're oblivious and 2. It's Disney so they think "MAGIC!!" The ride's forces are similar to a lot of carnival rides, but unhealthy people wouldn't ride those. But since its Disney, they ride it anyway.

No one takes ride warning signs seriously at all. mainly for 2 reasons: 1. they are at the front of every ride, seeing them all day eventually makes them disappear in your minds eye. 2. Amusement parks don't make safety signs as serious as they should be. Certainly the park isn't going to say, if you have any of these problems, you'll die! But still, look what happens. No ride has been created like MS yet, (I know it's obvious, but keep going with me) pressuring down people in as many forces, as many times, and as long as they do each time can be lethal to people with serious pre-existing conditions.

It makes me wonder what the future of Mission: Space holds. The ride was not exactly the smash hit they were hoping for to begin with, especially for the money and time put into it. And now it has a bad reputation. Its too intense for a lot of Disney guests, but if they tone it down, then it won't be much of a ride. So what will they do?

^^ Very true comment. They shouldn't tone down its intensity, especially since I haven't even been on the damn thing yet but just emphasize the warning signs. It's obvious that they are there for a purpose and its sad when these types of incidents occur, but some people need to learn their limits.

Having travelled from the UK just to ride Mission Space I would be very disappointed if the recent incidents had any impact upon the ride operating. MS is one of Disney's VERY FEW pure thrill rides (and after the total nonentity of Test Track - they can ill afford to do without it). Yes its intense, but that's why they have warnings everywhere - complete with ICONS, not just written language. The lady's death was unfortunate, but who's to say it may not have happened on the plane carrying her over, or on any of the other rides in Orlando? Some people just aren't meant to ride - whether they know it or not.
