Posted at 4:31 AM EDT (0831 GMT) Apr. 15th, 2006 -- The woman who died after riding Mission: Space died from bleeding of the brain caused by high blood pressure, a medical examiner said.
Hiltrud Blümel, 49, was taken to the hospital after feeling ill after riding the $100 million attraction. She died in the hospital, officials said. An autopsy revealed that Blümel had signs of "severe, long standing high blood pressure," said Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jan Garavaglia. She said there were no trauma signs. Garavaglia said Blümel had bleeding in the brain, which confirmed a diagnosis performed by the doctors who treated Blümel. For more information, visit the Orlando Sentinel.
