News: Rye Playland ready to open for 2006

Posted at 10:45 AM EDT (1445 GMT)

May. 10th, 2006 -- Rye Playland is scheduled to celebrate the beginning of its 78th operating season this weekend. The park will be offering numerous entertainment options and discount prices on ride wristbands.

Among the entertainment is a parade at 11 a.m., a band playing Beatles music, acrobats from the Westchester Broadway Theatre and appearances from a local radio station. Author Jim Futrell, who penned "Amusement Parks of New York," will be on hand to sign copies of his book.

The park will also continue its debut of the quick-scan rechargeable Fun Card system, which replaces the need for tickets for rides. This system was introduced last season. The park will also offer their Fun Band wristband for $15, a savings of $20.

Sounds good. Rye Playland is such a great park. The only thing they need to do is add a POP system. I used the fun card thing last year... It was like 26$ for all you can ride in 6 hours.. But after 6 hours were over you needed to buy a new card or just tickets.
