May. 12th, 2006 -- People seeking an early trip to Joyland Amusement Park in Wichita, KS are out of luck. The park was supposed to be open the weekends prior to Memorial Day, but Joyland will remain closed every day until May 27, when daily operation will begin. The temporary closure is due to the need for ongoing work on the park's rides. According to a Joyland spokeswoman, the closure will give the maintenance crew the opportunity to work on the amusement park seven days a week, particularly the restoration of the historic Roller Coaster, built in 1949. See the Wichita Eagle for more.
