News: Goliath debuts at La Ronde

May. 13th, 2006 -- La Ronde opens its gates for the 2006 season today, headlined by the debut of Goliath, Canada's tallest and fastest roller coaster.

Goliath promises to hurtle its riders over six zero-gravity hills at speeds approaching 110 kilometres an hour for a duration of three minutes.

In a promotional event worked off from the biblical tale of David vs. Goliath, seventy-two Davids, men and women, boys and girls, ranging in age from 10 to 65, were chosen to exclusively preview the steel behemoth, a coaster that travels over a 1.2-kilmeter track and features an opening drop of 52.1 meters.
