News: Hong Kong Disneyland seeking to boost attendance

Posted at 3:30 PM EDT (1930 GMT)

May. 17th, 2006 -- During a week-long Chinese celebration known as a Golden Week at the beginning of the month, Hong Kong Disneyland received fewer guests then anticipated, although company policy prevents the park from releasing numbers. As a result, the park intends to make changes and add new attractions to increase attendance numbers.

Hong Kong Disneyland will open three new rides this summer in Tomorrowland, including the popular Autopia car ride. Park officials also anticipate extending operating hours during the summer and an increased marketing campaign is underway.

More into the future, the park is planning a Halloween celebration in October. Hong Kong Disneyland also says it will build a Small World ride within two years.
