News: Six Flags America - Free admission for fireworks

Posted at 11:15 AM EDT (1515 GMT)

Jun. 19th, 2006 -- Six Flags America partners with both Prince George’s County Fire/EMS as well as Montgomery County’s Fire/EMS Departments on the annual Fireworks Amnesty Program. This program encourages citizens to turn in their fireworks to these two participating Fire Departments and receive a one-day 2006 admission ticket to Six Flags America. Attend a safe, professional fireworks display and leave the pyrotechnics up to the experts who are skilled at setting off fireworks for the general public.

As a good community neighbor and upstanding company, Six Flags America truly values the well being of its Guests and strongly suggests they all put safety first, celebrating the 4th of July in a safe environment. This holiday, Six Flags America presents it’s annual “4th of Jazz” event; an electrifying night of entertainment – smooth jazz tunes mixed with the explosion of fireworks!

Six Flags America is a FULL DAY of family fun that includes the 45th Anniversary Celebration, over 100 rides, shows and attractions – plus an incredible water park, Hurricane Harbor. The “4th of Jazz” concert and fireworks are FREE with paid park admission. Visit www.sixflags.com for more information or to purchase tickets.

Fireworks should be turned in at any Prince George’s/Montgomery County Fire Department; not at Six Flags America. Call the Prince George’s County Fire Department at 301-583-2200 or Montgomery County Fire Department at 240-683-6520 if citizens have fireworks to turn over or for more information. Six Flags America tickets are limited; available on a first-come – first-served basis.

This is a very nice thing to do. One thing I have a problem with though. Could I go to a store and buy 15 dollars worth of fireworks and then get a ticket to the park? I'm not saying that I will do that, but I was just curious.

I also wondered the same thing. But I doubt most people would do that.

Most of the local stores don't sell fireworks in Maryland. The only real place to get fireworks is from one of those shady dealers seeling them out of a tent along side some back road. Maryland has pretty strict rules what types of fireworks/sparklers places can and cannot sell.

Most states do but then there's places like Tennessee where almost everything is legal to sell.

Here in Florida they say we can only have sparklers but if you sign this form that its for killing off rats and pests for farming you can buy anything. Its really funny to read the whole form before you buy them and how many times Ive never even been asked to read and sign one. Most of the countie's around Tampa though are starting to ban fireworks all together, they say that people are getting killed and hurt too often. Personally I think banning fireworks is like banning God in schools Its just PLAIN OUT WRONG AND UNPATRIOTIC.

The fireworks are more fun. I'll go to SFA with my season pass another day.

It is a great idea indeed....but everyone remember, I have shot off some fireworks as early as what about 12 years of age(?) and the neighbors could be brats...and when used responsibly, they can be used safely.
