News: Dollywood announces Mystery Mine

Posted at 11:42 PM EDT (0342 GMT)

Jul. 20th, 2006 -- Mystery Mine will be themed to an old abandoned coal mine. The eight passenger coal cars will plunge riders into darkness throughout the 1,811 foot track. The ride will last for two and a half minutes and feature a 95-degree vertical drop in addition to two inversions. The new coaster is a Grestlauer Euro-Fighter with a custom track layout.

The $17.5 million investment will be Dollywood's fifth roller coaster. The new coaster will be located in the Timber Canyon section of the park which is also home to Thunderhead, Dollywood's large wood coaster.
