Jul. 20th, 2006 -- A preliminary inspection of Paramount's Kings Island roller coaster
indicates that splintered wood might be to blame for the incident on
Sunday which sent 27 riders to area hospitals. An investigator found
a splintered piece of wood on Monday. An official determination as to
what cause the incident has yet to be made.
On Sunday around
4:45 pm passengers aboard the roller coaster complained of pain and
discomfort after riding the ride. Medical crews from more then five
districts assisted the 27 injured passengers.
The Son of Beast roller coaster is currently shut down indefinitely.
In
November 2000, the park sued three companies involved with the
construction of the roller coaster. In the suit Kings Island claimed
that the $15 million Son of Beast roller coaster contained insufficient
support structures and had lumber problems. For more information please visit: Oxford Press
