News: Amsterdam hopes to open Willy Wonka park in '09

Posted at 1:28 AM EDT (0528 GMT)

Jul. 23rd, 2006 -- The adventures of Willy Wonka, Charlie and the Chocolate factory will become a reality due to the launching of a project by a Dutch businessman, Maurits Rubinstein.

The construction of this underground theme park is due to begin next year, and currently slated to open in 2009.

In this underground theme park, visitors will have an opportunity to see and touch chocolate while it's being made. During their visits, guests will also be able to travel through tunnels, experience a glass lift and witness chocolate fountains.

This magical factory will be a first for the Netherlands. The Netherlands is the world's leading cocoa processing country, producing chocolate paste for the major European plants. However, they don't create the final product, this factory will be the first to do so.

To quote Mr Rubinstein, the factory will be "the sweetest and the most beautiful in the world." Therefore, this theme park devoted to chocolate is expected to attract children of all ages, from all around the world.
