News: Disneyland President Matt Ouimet resigns

Jul. 26th, 2006 -- Disneyland Resort President Matt Ouimet has resigned from his position to join Starwood Hotels. His replacement, Ed Grier, was most recently the head of the Tokyo Disney Resort.

Ouimet is largely credited with taking a slumping Disneyland and brightening it up as it's 50th anniversary approached. He was very popular with employees and people who followed the park closely.

Grier's experience with running a well-managed ship at the Tokyo properties made him an easy choice for Disney Theme Park head Jay Rasulo. Grier previously managed EPCOT and Disney-MGM Studios in Orlando before being promoted to Tokyo.
