Posted at 4:37 AM EDT (0837 GMT) Aug. 13th, 2006 -- Two Florida Universal parks increase ticket prices,
following a similar raise at Walt Disney World.
Beginning August 12, it will now cost 67 dollars for a one-day,
one-park adult ticket to both Universal parks: Universal Orlando and Islands of
Adventure. Universal declined to comment on whether the price increase
were affected by Disney's recent announcement, but did state that the increase
was based on a desire to stay competitive in the market. This past week, Disney increased their ticket prices to sixty-seven dollars. Related article: Disney World increases ticket prices again

How is INCREASING your price to that of your competitors "based on a desire to stay competitive in the market"? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

You can still buy single day tickets at the old price online, and they offer so many other options (like a 5 day pass for 99.99) that it won't have as much of an effect.

Wow they can't do anything for themselves can they? Fallowing the Disney band wagon instead of using there lower ticket prices to there advantage.

That 5 day ticket is for a limited time, which now that ticket prices just went up , will disappear real soon. To bad the employees wont be seeing any of this money, they wont raise the rate of pay.

Truthfully lowering the prices in this market wouldn't do much. If your already set on going to Disney, a two dollar price increase or differance, at either park isn't going to sway you otherwise. Not to mention CP's lowered addmission hasnt done anything for them so far, in terms of attendance, we'll see for sure though by the end of the quarter.
