News: Dollywood debuts Q2Q system for shows

Posted at 9:29 AM EDT (1329 GMT)

Sep. 1st, 2006 -- Via Press Release

Would you like more time to have fun and less waiting in line for shows? Then Dollywood’s new Q2Q electronic line management system is for you! Beginning September 15, Dollywood Guests can take advantage of this great new service.

What is Q2Q?

More time, less wait!
Q2Q reserves your place in line while you enjoy all that Dollywood has to offer! It’s a convenient and easy-to-use electronic system that provides Q2Q seating for shows in DP’s Celebrity, Showstreet Palace and Pines Theatres using a Q-bot.

Why use Q2Q?

Waiting in line is no fun. Fun is rides, watching shows, shopping, dining, seeing a craft demonstration or just exploring the park. Q2Q seating doesn’t physically place you at the beginning of the line—it simply does the waiting while you have fun!

Where is Q2Q Seating?
Q2Q seating is available only for shows in DP’s Celebrity, Showstreet Palace, and the Pines Theatres and to paying Q-bot participants. Please be aware that Q2Q seating will be held until 15 minutes before showtime and then released, at which time your Q-bot will no longer offer Q2Q seating for a selected show.

How much is Q2Q?

$10 (plus tax) for the first person; $5 (plus tax) for each additional member of your party using the same Q-bot. One Q-bot is valid for a maximum of six people. Children ages three and under who sit on a parent’s lap do not require a Q-bot reservation. Q2Q seating capacity and Q-bots are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited daily. You must be 18 years of age (ID required) to rent a Q-bot.

A valid credit card or $25 cash deposit is required for Q2Q rental. Gold and Super Gold season passholders must make and complete the transaction, and season pass must be presented at the time of purchase to receive discount.

How does Q2Q work?

Visit the Q2Q Reservation Center located in Adventures in Imagination to rent a Q-bot for the day. Locate the Q2Q “Reserve Here” box in the Q2Q Reservation Center or outside any of the three participating theatres. Follow the easy instructions to reserve seats for the next available showtime. Q2Q lets you make reservations for as many shows as you like on the day of your visit. Before your selected showtime, you’ll receive a message on the Q-bot that reads “Next Show Soon,” letting you know it’s time to make your way to the theatre. It’s that easy!

At the end of the day, simply return your Q-bot to the Q2Q Reservation Center. Unreturned Q-bots will be subject to a $225 charge to the individual named on the rental agreement.

I'm still kind of unsure of wether or not this is a good idea, but I guess I will see when I'm there Sept. 15th.

^I hope so too. Hopefully it will be succesful but I'm not sure if people will want to pay for the service. I don't know. I hope they get something more like fast pass where you don't have to pay for it. But yet look at Disney's prices for admission no one will want to pay that much to get into the park. So I really don't know if it will last or not.

The system is being tested on shows before a full-scale ride rollout is done.

^Yeah but I still think that it should be free. Like Fast Pass. Where you insert your admission ticket or season pass and get a FREE return time.

That would make more sense. This isn't much of a system. unless the lines are 20 + minutes to get in and site down it's not worth it. you need to show up for the show 15 minutes prier to the show. The price is good but overall the installation seems like a waist of money.

Actually at Christmas times show have the biggest lines. Such as Christmas in the Smokies can have hour wait line. So there it would help but I don't know. And with the artists coming in for Bluegrass & BBQ and for National Gospel and Harvest Celebration, they will have long lines so ther it could help. But as for regualr season shows they don't have much of lines.

All I know is that it's cheaper than Six Flags.
