News: Six Flags Over Texas to get new manager

Sep. 9th, 2006 -- Six Flags has announced that Six Flags Over Texas General Manager Steve Calloway will be promoted to oversee special projects for the chain.

After 11 years, Calloway saw the addition of rides such as the Titan, Superman Tower of Power, Batman: The Ride and Mr. Freeze. Calloway will remain as the park's general manager until the end of the operating season.

His replacement is a Six Flags veteran, Steven Martindale. Martindale will also oversee Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. He is the currently the park's director of operations, and anticipates to continue new CEO Mark Shapiro's push to improve the guest service and familiy entertainment of the Six Flags brand.

Both men have worked for Six Flags for over 30 years.

I'm surprised that There making all these shifts in management. i would think you would want to keep a top managers in the chain and use him to build up smaller parks. This may be a promotion for him but the position seems unneeded.
