News: Hippo born at Busch Gardens Africa

Sep. 14th, 2006 -- Busch Gardens Africa welcomed a new member to its hippopotamus family last Thursday with the birth of a calf.

Weighing in at an estimated 65 pounds, it is only the second hippo born at the Busch Gardens theme park. The sex of the baby hippo is still unknown due to hippos' protective nature of their young.

Park guests can see the baby hippo up-close at Busch Gardens Africa's Edge of Africa habit.
