I am not surprised that they surpassed it this year, with the addition of The Voyage. Congrats HW.

^ Will Koch expects that to happen by 2010.

So 60 years to get up to one million and four years to get up to two million. That is a little high of an expectation I think. So they must be getting something really big to draw that many more people. Because Dollywood for the last four years have only went up 50,000 a year. So Holiday World is going to have to do something huge to get an extra million in four years. They could reach it but I don't think that it is likely.

When I first read this on Scremscape, I thought they meant 1,000,000 this year alone.
"Park News - (10/9/06) For the first time in the park’s 60 year history, they finally topped one million in attendance on the very last day of the season. Holiday World ended it’s 2006 season with a final record-setting attendance of 1,005,000 guests, a 15% growth over last season. They are already expecting another 5% growth next year with the planned 2007 additions of Bakuli and Turkey Whirl. Congrats to everyone!"
When they said a %15 growth over last year, I thougth the meant that 1,000,000 was a %15 growth.
Stupid mistake. Anyway, I don't think they will hit 2 Million for a long time.

They do mean one million visitors in one year. What else would it mean?

Yes, we had 1 million in attendance this season alone.
The 2-million goal is for 10 years out, not 2010.
Thanks, Paula

Ok. That makes sense. I originally thought you meant this year alone, but the above posts confused me.

So that means two million in one year by 2016 that could possibly happen.

If they continue with their plans for expansion, and build signature attractions every five years like they have been, 2 million a year is very doable. I will do my part and be counted in at least once a year now :-)

^I may also be counted at least once a year but that could change if I can't get there for some reason but I will definetly try.

It's still Quite a feet. you talking about getting to 2 million by 2016. Not if there 5% increase works out that's only 1,050,250. for next your is I did the math right. that leaves 949,750 for the remaining 9 years. that's more then 100,000 each year attendance will have to increase. now this year showed a 150,750 guest increase. if they can do that twice with major additions like Voyage that makes up 301,500. So the Question is a practicality of getting 648,250 over 7 years. that's a slightly easyer 92,608.
OK The park hit a goal any park is proud of. good for them. While I don't think there 2 million goal is practical 15-20 years might be a more reasonable guess.

Although Holiday World could maybe plan on staying open longer too in the next 10 years. Maybe staying open more days in October and other months, or maybe even into late December. I think that they should have a Christmas celebration there even. It works for other parks and what better place to have one other than Santa Claus, IN.
But I do see one problem if they showed a 150,750 person increase this year can they be sure that those 150,750 people are going to return next year and also bring in new people. Because I don't see that many returning they may but for some of those people the Voyage may have brought them in and they may not plan on going for a few more years.
I could be wrong but I don't think that they will see 2 million by 2016 unless they increase operating dates and add at least two more coasters. And I'm hopping that they will add a steal one because if they did and it was good I would definetly return year after year.
