Industry Announcements: BGW Announces 2004 Attractions

Posted at 10:57 AM EST (1557 GMT)

Feb. 29th, 2004 -- Press Release from Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Voted world's "Most Beautiful Theme Park," for 12 consecutive years, Busch Gardens has long been renowned as a showplace. This beautiful showplace is home to amazing performances in 2004.

"Pet Shenanigans," a hilarious live-action animal show debuts April 3, and features the zany antics of dogs, cats, birds and other animals. The four-legged celebrities will amaze guests with their high-speed hijinks and high-wire acts.

Veteran animal trainer Joel Slaven, whose training credits include "Ace Ventura, Pet Detective" and "That Darn Cat," brings more than 20 years of experience to the production. The high-energy show is set in the Irish countryside and will be performed in the Shenanigans Theatre, directly across from Lorikeet Glen.

"Theme park visitors want a complete experience when they visit our park - rides, shows, and quality family time. 'Pet Shenanigans' adds even more to the Busch Gardens experience," said Donnie Mills, executive vice president and general manager for Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA.

Family fun takes center stage as Busch Gardens caps off its stellar entertainment lineup with an all-new "Imaginique" debuting June 19. This immersive, sensory experience enchants guests on summer evenings through August 18. The new adaptation of "Imaginique" will transform The Royal Palace Theatre with its double-chiffon aerial act, towering acrobatic feats, vivid colors and imagination.

"'Imaginique has been overwhelmingly popular and the 2004 rendition will continue to fascinate our guests," said Mills. "Throughout the summer, Busch Gardens Williamsburg also will play host to a series of special events from Big Band music to Motown tributes."

Yeah. That's pretty pitiful after removing a coaster. A "pet show"??? I'm not saying that they should have added a world-class mega coaster or anything, but I don't know how many crowds the pet show is going to bring in. Even a family-themed 3D simulator or something similar would do. What is PKD installing next year?

Imaginique sounds cool. I tried to see it one of the times I went last year but it had rained and the slippery stage caused it to be closed for the evening.

Yeah I must agree, this is a disappointment. FOr it to be the worlds most beautiful park, you'd think they add better attractions. Ive yet to visit Busch Gardens Williamsburg but i plan to this summer and Im sure ill have a good time, but BGW is well overdue for another signature coaster in the park. Drachen Fire is gone and Apollos Chariot and ALphengheist picked up the slack, but 4 major coasters in a park simply isnt enough.

Well, if they're not going to put in a coaster, then they might as well put in something for the entire family. I remember Jungle Larry at CP and liked that show. But I wouldn't go out of my way to watch a pet show now---too busy riding coasters.

Hopefully, they'll put in another coaster next year. Then I'd be excited.

Doesn't sound too shabby. not every park can resort to building new rides. I think BGW is a good park for throwing variety in the mix, which is why it's my favorite park.

^ maybe we should all send nasty emails saying we're not going to drink Busch beer until BGW gets a coaster (no more "family rides" either). I think that would work---yep, it would. lol
