News: Latest fire at Rocky Point Park under investigation

Oct. 18th, 2006 -- A fire Monday morning at the closed Rocky Point amusement park in Warwick, RI, at least the fifth one at the site, is under investigation. The fire damaged the former park's third-largest building and took 25 firefighters over an hour to bring it under control. Police are unsure as to whether vandals, who have been responsible for past blazes, were behind this latest fire.

The fire has renewed questions about the security at the 126-acre closed park. The U.S. Small Business Administration, which owns the site, is paying police offers to patrol the park on weekends. The agency also employs security guards to monitor the site.
