News: Six Flags guests to abide by new code of conduct

Posted at 5:39 PM EDT (2139 GMT)

Oct. 18th, 2006 -- The theme park operator, which operates some 30 parks in North America, already put in place a no-smoking policy this season.

The newly implemented guidelines ban unruly and offensive behavior, which includes but is not limited to line-jumping and holding places in line. Clothes with rude or offensive language or graphics will also not be permitted -- and shirts cannot be turned inside out as a solution, the company said.

The guidelines will be posted outside ticket booths and will be enforced by employees, Goldberg said. Guests who violate the rules risk their removal from the park -- without a refund.

The code of conduct will be implemented for next season, which begins in the first quarter of 2007.

I like how the article says that they are making shirts and shoes mandatory. Shouldn't that have already been mandatory. I just hope this helps the Six Flags parks because I think the have already scared alot of families away because of the behavoir they have allowed and hopefully they can get them back by doing this. This is definetly a step in the right direction for the company and hopefully they do more to bring back the family audience.

Bleh, Six Flags employees won't enforce these rules any more than they did the old ones. If they do, you can count on me being extremely shocked.

^I don't know. But I would have hoped shirt and shoes required would have always been a rule.

It was, along with the offensive content on a T-shirt. The only difference I see here is that they are reserving the right to throw you out of the park easier. And as said earlier, they probably won't be enforced.

Actually I believe, or at least hope that these new rules will be enforced very well. Six Flags hasn't been know for the family resort/park that other chains are known for: Cedar Fair, Disney, Universal, and Busch. Theres a LOT of profit with a family, think about it: Lets say the average family is 4 people, ages varied here and there, they all gotta pay admission, X4, then food...X4, then of course, the kids will want something...X2....

I think they should go away from the "get a season pass" idea which only applies to like, couples or just...friends, I don't think it was targeted towards family, but I think Six Flags is aiming to get those families looking for a "Nice afternoon out" to blow cash at their park...why not? Families are lots of profit.

Hopefully they will get the employees to enforce these rules, but it's hard when you are dealing with people who are used to letting it go, and then suddenly they are being pushed to handle situations that they may not want to confront. I had to do it a lot at CP and it was hard every time for me. If it was not enforced so strongly there for us I can see it being very hard to change that.

Ummmm...these have been the rules for like the past 7 or 8 years.......not really sure why they had a press conference to re-announce rules that they won't enforce.....

Those of us who go to SFoG have seen the "Doobies and Boobies" shirts like 10,000 times and the staff doesn' do anything. I think it's funny, but my mom gets offended because she's like that.

^^^I don't know I think families are very big on season passes because that way it saves them alot of money and they can go multiple times and have more fun for less.

I live 3 hours from a Six Flags and I have known several people from my town that there whole family had season passes for Six Flags before.

And my family has always had a season pass to Dollywood. And I know alot of other families that have them that live just as far. (I live 8 hours away.)

So I think season passes are bought alot by families. Because they are looking to get the most bang for there buck. because they have to spend more wisely normally, Because they have more to buy in there regular life usually.

Can you say Publicity stunt? I know you can!

For starters they will actually need to Back this up with action. also they really didn't change much. many of these Guidelines are already in place. Most parks have regulations that have strong responses to such problems. But I don't see this holding any more weight then the new smoking policy that was set up.

Commas, trainguy83... commas.

Completely agree with some previous comments. These should have already been enforced. But, SF knows the rep they have with families as of now. The ONLY way this demographic is going to know that things are better now is if SF says so. That's what the press is all about.

If people don't know there's any changes, people will assume nothing's changed!
