News: Wiggles World coming to Great Adventure in Spring 2007

Posted at 10:03 AM EST (1503 GMT)

Dec. 11th, 2006 -- Six Flags Great Adventure announces a newly themed area, "Wiggles World," the park's fourth area devoted to kids offering new pint-sized adventures designed just for them.

Just next door at Six Flags Wild Safari, guests will take a one-of-a-kind journey in the all-new Wild Safari Exploration Station, featuring hands-on Safari interactive adventures.

"Today's announcement represents Six Flags Great Adventure's continued focus on family entertainment," said Mark Kane, Six Flags Great Adventure's Vice President and General Manager. "In addition to our world-class coaster collection and unparalleled lineup of thrill rides, the park now features four distinct areas devoted to families with young children, offering entertainment and thrills for all ages."

The Wiggles are the most popular children's entertainers in the world,
and "Wiggles World" will be designed to leverage their vast recognition and status among children ages 2-6. Since 1991, The Wiggles have performed to more than 1 million audience members a year. To date, they have sold more than 22 million DVDs and videos and more than 5 million albums worldwide, and The Wiggles' successful television show has been broadcast on Disney Channel's Playhouse Disney since 2002.

"Wiggles World" will feature specially themed rides and attractions including The Big Red Car ride, The Big Red Plane ride, Dorothy the Dinosaur's Racing to the Rainbow balloon ride, Bouncin' with Wags ride and the S.S. Feathersword Pirate Ship. The area will also include retail locations selling Wiggles merchandise and a restaurant, the Yummy Yummy Cafe.

"Wiggles World" will be populated by The Wiggles' cast of supporting characters: Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog and Henry the Octopus, who will pose for photos and perform in daily shows. The Wiggles themselves - Anthony, Sam, Jeff and Murray - will make an appearance and perform at the park in 2007.

Just next door, families will explore the Wild Safari Exploration
Station, an all-new area featuring hands-on Safari interactive adventures. After experiencing a one-of-a-kind journey through six continents of exotic animals, including visits from the likes of Rip the African elephant, Georgia the giraffe and King the lion cub, in the largest drive-thru Safari outside of Africa, guests will have the opportunity to visit the new Wild Safari Exploration Station for a unique, hands-on experience. Guests will enjoy educational and exciting animal shows featuring exotic birds, snakes and reptiles. In addition, they will encounter superstars Cleo the capuchin monkey and Kumai the cuddly kinkajou, explore interactive science exhibits and get up close to touch amazing animals at the Wild Safari Exploration Station. The area will also include a retail location with Safari merchandise and a new snack bar with lots of sweet treats.

The new Wiggles World and Wild Safari Exploration Station are slated
for a spring 2007 opening.

The wiggles are awesome! I have watched them for years since Matt is in that age range. They are great for pre-school aged kids, I think this is a great addition for the park!

Oh god, I hate the Wiggle's. Why couldn't they do like Barney or Telletubies. Actually Tubbietelees are worst so forget. Hope this doesn't go to Great America like the people said it might.

^ Apparently, over the next five years under contract, every Six Flags park will be home to a "Wiggles World" themed area.

I swear that will be the first themed area I will ever want to avoid in my obsessive persuit of enjoying every part of a park.

Does anyone else think the Wiggles look like the crew of the Starship Enterprise gone horribly wrong?

I wish SFGADV still had a park train. We'd have a better chance at getting Thomas the Tank Engine.

I don't see this being the success they think it will be. for starters SFGAdv doesn't need a 4th kiddie area 5 if you count the water play area. Do they still have that ball play area? that would be 6!

Anyways. The wiggles are well liked. But Many parents that I know and have kids that like the Wiggles Don't like SFI parks and there crowds. In turn they rather just pay for a local Concert.

On top of that one of the members is sick and will soon not be performing and the group is disbanding. So no new videos and TV episodes. So it's only a mater of time before they get replaced by something else.

So in the long run this may end up backfiring. Tomas is a character with a bit more staying power. but who knows how that will work at some parks. All I know is Tomas can't Come to SFNE. so I guess were getting a Wiggles world.

This is the worst decesion Six Flags can make. People don't come for kiddie attractions, they come for big budget rides that make the news. This will be no more than a waste of money that will not bring in any new customers.

Save the money, build something big later, forget this cheap expansion.
