If you watch the video it looks like the kid is up to something behind Tigger's back. I think he was probably just trying to get the kid off.

CNN may not have it, I found it on one of Orlando's local news sites.
Also, the lead in to this story needs to be changed. The guy is most certainly not a "small child". He looks to be a teenager.

I agree The kid looks up to Something. When Tiger turned the head peace popped up Looks like the Kid may have had a hold of the back of the costume. maybe trying to unzip it.
It's twerps like this that make NH look bad. Molly Mouse and Patches the Teddy bear better watch out. this kid might go on a rampage when he gets home.

You can see the fact that the kid had his hand around his back but you can't really tell if he was trying to do something or if the kid just had his hand around him for the picture.
But no matter what happened the character should apologize to make the teenager and the family happy. Because from the link it sounds like if the character does that they won't have a problem because to me it sounds like there biggest problem is the fact that management and everyone else is apologizing and not the person that should be. Whether tigger was in the wrong or not he needs to apologize to get the whole thing over with.

If you think all that crazy dad wants is an apology, then I believe you're in la-la land.

^ I agree...
It almost appears that the character was trying to get the kids arm out from behind him, and he accidentally clocked him in the process. I'd bet you have no periph in those suits...

That punk was up to something and he looked like he was laughing about it...This is where we should draw the line about stupidity and acting like chumps.

I have seen this video. It appears that the person playing Tigger spun his arm around quickly and that the "hit" was purely accidental.
It also looks like the teenager involved might have been trying to do something behind the characters back, but because of the video angle its not possible to tell.
In either case, the father is completely over-reacting, and seems to be looking for compensation.
After seeing the incident on film, it's hard to believe this was even covered by the media. It would be very difficult to make the case that this was anything other than a simple accident.

I know if i owned a park and a character did this...I would not have the character apologize either...I would send out a very high level management position do the talking. That family would not see that character(person in suit, not character itself) again.
This made the news last night in Cleveland...what a joke!

The father was certainly over reacting. I saw the video and it looks like more of an accidental or playful hit. There was NO WAY the kid needed medical attention like the news said he did. The dad doesn't want an apology, he wants to sue and get some money out of it, simple as that. What a joke!
They're making wayyyyy more out of this than it actually is.

I know someone who actually has played Tigger. The suits have almost no periphial view. I don't believe it was intentional.

Does anyone else find it mildy entertaining that they said "smacking" in this article? It just struck me as kind of a humerous word. I have a feeling this is just some sue happy parent blowing up an innocent thing to get money and attention. Why are people so ignorant?

I saw the video and thought that the so called "hit" was nothing. The dad said that his son had "neck" pain that night. A injury that is hard to disprove. Sounds like a family of sleazy con artists. They baited Tigger, and he fell in there trap. If that hapened to my duaghter, I would be alittle upset. I wouldnt go to the news channels and cry lawsuit. SCUM BAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch this. It's a blogger's analysis of the incident, using the full video. It seems as if the kid was really up to something...
