News: Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom to get major waterpark expansion

Posted at 7:24 PM EST (0024 GMT)

Jan. 26th, 2007 --  VIA Press Release: Splashwater Kingdom at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom is now even bigger, better and wetter for the 2007 season. It features new excitement around every turn with a spectacular H2makeOver, including thrilling new major additions!

The 2007 season at Splashwater Kingdom debuts Crocodile Isle; a brand new splashy, interactive play area for young children. Crocodile Isle will be the ultimate place for little ones - they'll experience a giant tipping coconut filled with water, an elephant and flamingo slide, croc, crab and shark squirts, plus palm trees that spray cool water on a hot summer day.

Visually stunning changes are around virtually every corner, with 20-foot FUN-brellas shading park guests and personal VIP plush cabanas equipped with misting fans and personal servers. The exclusive cabanas will be located next to Splashwater Kingdom's wave pool.

"Everyone who visits Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom will leave with memories that last a lifetime. This will be our best season ever, with an unprecedented commitment to providing fun for the whole family," said park president, Jay Thomas.

Splashwater Kingdom will also feature a new merchandise facility appropriately named Beachcombers. The store will allow guests to pick up any items they may have forgotten, as well as customized merchandise apparel.

In addition, guests can stop at Ben and Jerry's for a cool treat. The ice cream shops will be conveniently located in the old Fountaine Ferry restaurant near the park's front gate and in the Northwest Territory in the former Blue Moose Cafe.

This season Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom debuts Splashwater Kingdom with the introduction of the all new thrilling water coaster, Deluge. This much anticipated cutting-edge water coaster delivers on the park's promise to be "the World leader in thrilling entertainment" for the 2007 season. Powered by exclusive "HydroMagnetic Rocket Booster" technology, this brand new water coaster will please roller coaster fanatics as well as water park enthusiasts.

Just add water and Deluge pleases all the senses of adventure. Deluge offers the world's only 4-person HydroMagnetic rafting experience that can be shared with family and friends. Riders will experience multiple roller coaster-like plummeting drops then rocket uphill into an enclosed tunnel while getting blasted with water from all sides. The journey ends with a giant wave of excitement as riders splash into the pool and conquer Deluge.

The water coaster's unique rocket propelled water mixed with the use of magnets and gravity will blast riders through a serpentine series of high bank turns, enclosed tunnels and uphill climbs at racing speeds. Deluge's cutting-edge technology, designed specifically for Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, is that of a traditional steel coaster but with water. The technology includes higher, faster, and longer uphill sections than any existing water coaster in America.

"Proslide, the creator of Deluge, leads the industry in product development, safety, entertainment value and capacity. They have received more industry innovation awards than any other water ride manufacturer and that is why we are proud to partner with them to open our all-new water coaster", said Jay Thomas, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom park president. "The opening of Deluge heralds the arrival of summer in Louisville and what better way to cool down than to ride the all new Deluge water coaster."

The mags are interesting. At least they will make the slide allot quitter then the original version. But With how small there water park was this is a good move.

Mrceagle - honestly, let's think about what you said. Not trying to attack you, but perhaps you missed the part about the waterpark being expanded. The waterpark is small, and that's why they are expanding it. This is a very good move.

Im more of a roller coaster guy myself, but to me, this is still very good news. My home park could really use this, this will really help the park, and will certainly make me visit it this summer.
