Mar. 5th, 2004 -- The $40 million Wannado City, opening in a few months, will be an amusement park for kids. But that's not the half of it.
Wannado City will feature numerous "grown-up" activities for children to perform. Children aged 4 to 11 can act as surgeons, police officers, singers, actors, reporters and a variety of other careers.
Their parents will have the choice of sitting out and relaxing or watching their child earn Wannado City's currency - Wongas - by working for wages.
Children will be able to roam around the park free of their parents, by way of an electronic bracelet system. Parents can check on their child's location by swiping a bracelet at one of the amusement park's computer terminals. A map will show up detailing where their little fire-fighter is.
Parents will be encouraged to relax and shop in the nearby mall and let their children have fun.
"We don't want the parents to bother the kids," Wannado City Chief Creative Officer Luis Javier Laresgoiti said.
Wannado City plans on charging admission of $22.95 for children and $19.95 for adults.
