News: Alabama Adventure adds thrill ride, expands water park

Posted at 10:24 PM EDT (0224 GMT)

Apr. 7th, 2007 -- Alabama Adventure kicks off its season earlier than ever this year, with an April 18 opening day.

Among the new attractions at the park, there is a new children’s play area, called Salamander Bay in Splash Beach Water Park and a new  thrill ride called Vertigo in Magic City USA.  Salamander Bay features slides, gadgets, geysers and water activities and is geared to children 6 and younger.

The park will also expand its summer concert series due to overwhelming success last year.  The concerts are free to those who  buy a ticket to Magic City USA.

What is vertigo, sounds like a spin-n-puke from Zamperla.

Cedar Point had a ride called Vertigo. It was a pay per ride and it shot you up quick and droped you and did the same thing a few more times. Also while you fell the seats face you so you are looking down when droping. The ride fell during the winter due to it having a crack in the surport and the water from the rain froze and it went down. The ride they are getting may be different.

From what I was told by someone who was in the area... Vertigo is just the return of the parks enterprise that was replaced with a Round-Up a few years ago.
The park will move the round up to a new area and the Enterprise will go back to where it was.

I'm a big Enterprise fan so that doesn't sound bad to me. Good to hear they are adding to the parks this year.

Thanks, guys for adding this to the front page. As the park approaches its 10th year anniversary in 2008, it will be interesting to see how much progress is made on new attractions this season and the next.
