News: Hard Rock Park announces coasters and attractions

Posted at 10:07 AM EDT (1407 GMT)

Apr. 9th, 2007 -- Among the many attractions at the new Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, there will be two new roller coasters.  One of the coasters will jam to 80s tunes and another will blast Southern rock.  A Jamaican-themed water play area, a stunt show and a new amphitheater are part of the lineup for the new park.

The park will feature six zones or lands that will feature everything from the British Invasion to the music of the South.

Developers of the 140-acre park kicked off a six-city promotional tour today at the Hard Rock Café in New York City.  At each stop, they will take acquire a piece of Rock memorabilia that will go into the park.

The park is scheduled to open in April 2008. Tickets will sell for $46.

"We've been dreaming up Hard Rock Park for the last few years and we can't wait to start showing people what they can expect to experience," Steven Goodwin, the park's CEO, said in a news release Monday morning. "From the innovative technology to develop the rides and the entertainment experience to the truly priceless memorabilia we will have on display and special events we will host, visitors can expect a new standard of fun to rock fans of all ages."

Sounds like a B&M hyper similar to the Japan coaster with sound. The other ride sounds just like a premier copy of Revenge of the Mummy. That would be my guess.

Which one is the B&M? I'm guessing Midnight Rider, since Maximum RPM! sounds like a launch coaster. I agree with Johnny Upsidedown about the possible ride layouts.

Don't care which is which. Just glad the Carolinas are finally getting another B&M! :)

The blueprints are up on their site now. It reminds me a lot of IOA in layout.

Pic one looks like a B&M looper. Convertable car coaster, sounds like trains that look like cars with stereo sound. How cool is that.

I'm hoping for a B&M hyper. Oh please let it be a B&M hyper. They are the greatest coasters in the world.

Midnight Rider | A Southern Rock roller coaster that careens through a creepy abandoned lumber mill.

Anyone else think that that screams motorbike coaster w/ music. Cause I sure do.

Hmmm. You know, I honestly have to admit that I am getting tired of the same ol' B&M loopers. They are fun, but they aren't enough to get me to make a special trip. I have a feeling that I'm going to regret this statement since it's too early to know exactly what kind of coaster this will be. But really, is anyone else getting tired of the same B&M looper formula?

I know what you mean. Loop, Immelman or Cobra Roll, Inline, Corkscrew or two.

It's usually about the same order each time.

But I don't care, I love B&Ms and I think this one will have the speakers in the seats. That'll be cool.

Vekoma was mentioned somewhere in the press release. I can't find it now, but I know I saw it. I think that Maximum RPM will be the B&M though. So I predict a Vekoma and a B&M.

^You did. I found what I was talking about earlier. The red one is Maximum RPM, The green one is Slippery When Wet, The black one is Midnight Rider.

Maximum RPM is Premier Rides, Midnight Rider-Vekoma, and Slippery When Wet is a Premier Suspended coaster with water cannons, not a flume ride.

I thought that was interesting as well. The brown track though could be the log flume they are putting in.

The green, red and white track all look like coasters though.

Maximum RPM! | A convertible car-coaster that races to 1980s new age hits. I Don't know about B&M. while I would like them this sounds more practical as a Vekoma with the RRC style cars. But there they really doesn't seem to be another coaster that looks like it could be a B&M.

Good to hear things are coming along. i expected to see a few more rides listed though.
