News: Big Thunder Mountain reopens

Posted at 10:53 PM EST (0353 GMT)

Mar. 12th, 2004 -- Six months after 22-year-old Marcello Torres was killed by an accident on Disneyland's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the ride has reopened. State inspectors deemed the roller coaster safe to operate.

"They certified the ride safe for operation," Disneyland Spokeswoman Sondra Haley said.

The California division of Occupational Safety and Health spent three days inspecting the ride. Cal-OSHA made sure Disneyland made the necessary requirements to operate the ride.

To see what the park had to do to open the ride, see this story.

Wow!! It's FINALLY reopened. I'm surprised it took this long. I just hope everything is fine now and that this never happens again!!
