Dang. I'm assuming the train slipped through the brakes at the end of the ride after the tunnel, and managed to crawl through the two curves up to the stopped train on the transfer table. Does any one know if it happened that way, or if it was a train that slid out of the brakes on the table and bumped the train in the station?

Did this collision take palce at the block brakes before the station? I'm trying to get an idea of what speed the coaster was rolling at when it hit.

Man, Cedar Point can't have the opening for Maverick go smoothly without another coaster causing a problem.

How long does it normally take for the coaster to be open safetly again after something like this happens?

Depending on the accident and the inspectors.

I'm sure hoping they have it all figured out and fixed (if neccessary) by June 14th when I go. I've had a good time at CP with TTD and MF down, but Magnum being down would be a real downer for me.

Of course, the most important thing is that nobody was seriously hurt.

Better be fixed for my June 18th visit. It's one of my favorites.

It's probably the block brakes coming out of the last tunnel. It was raining today so that could've had something to do with it. Maybe a light rain got in there and messed something up. I'm sure its not anything big. Hell, I was on it just Friday night, everything worked perfectly. It was my last ride of the night. Again, I'm sure its the block brakes after the tunnel. It probably stopped, slipped, and went at about 6-10 mph to the next set, the ones before the station. This does surprise me though. It was working fine Friday night. In fact, we were stopped on both of those brakes for a very long time, because people had puked in both trains in front of us. Again, its not that big of a deal.

Wow, not news I expected to ever see. I don't think there has ever been a problem like this on this coaster. Hopefully it will be cleared up and reopened soon.

The interesting part is that Magnum has block protection for 3 blocks. The station is basically a black hole block. This shouldn't have happened, yet it did.

As a side note, trains can't slip through these brakes. Something else went wrong.

The final brake run failed and the train hit the one on the station. It was only going about 10MPH.

If it was raining, that's likely the cause, or a huge part of it. The brakes will not work as well if they are wet.

I don't get it...I have NEVER got it...why do they say "people were injured" when in reality they really weren't. Maybe a little shooken up, but nothing serious, no broken bones, no scratches, maybe sore back or neck, but I doubt it should be called "injured". Injured should be referred to life threatening accidents.

I wouldn't exactly call whiplash a non-injury, and that is possible. Also, it was reported that someone did go to a regional hospital because of an asthma attack. I can see that happening too.

I think Magnum was just jealous of all the attention Maverick was getting.

From what I've heard from my cousin, the computer system failed or just had a glitch for a moment. I was down in Tenneessee when this happened, and I was hoping none of my fellow co-workers were on those trains...

Bad news for Cedar Point, yes, but they'll get the problem ironed out in no time...it's Cedar Point they take the hits and keep on moving.

I saw a blue tarp over the train on the final brake run last night. There was a crane on the side lifting a train car up. I heard the hissing of the air pressure being released on the brakes I guess as they investigate.

You always hate to hear news like this. I'm glad to hear nobody was seriously hurt.

Now my thought go to the engineers who have to figure out what happened. It's probably more stress that they care to have.

This shouldn't be a hard one to fix.

I know this one guy who was there Friday, and he said that everything was alright. I was actually at my grandparents house for a picnic and went on here and was very suprised about this. Like Andrew Polcyn said, Magnum was just jealous.

What a thing to happen when Maverick opens.

Ha next thing you know, TTD will get jealous and refuse to shoot forward, and instead shoot backwards, Wicked Twister will shoot off the spiral, Skyhawk will make a complete revolution, maXair will release it's seats, and Millenium force will...will...yah i got nothing.

it would seem as if the coaster jealousy bug is spreading ;D

also who else has noticed on the cedar point website, the graphic at the top now has Maverick in the options too.
It also has space spiral listed, but I COULD NOT find it until I zoomed in twice...it's right behind TTD.
