News: Family sues Kentucky Kingdom

Posted at 9:56 AM EDT (1356 GMT)

Jul. 13th, 2007 -- Thursday, the family of the teenage girl whose feet were severed while riding Superman - Tower of Power, sued Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom for an undisclosed amount of money.

The lawsuit alleges negligence in inspecting the drop tower ride and asks for a temporary injunction to prevent the park from altering or destroying the ride and a cable that investigators believe cut off the girl’s feet.

Kaitlyn Lasitter, the 13-year-old girl injured, remains hospitalized and in good condition at Vanderbilt University Medical in Nashville, Tenn.
Doctors at Vanderbilt reattached Kaitlyn's right foot after the June 21 accident but couldn't save the left.

A spokesperson for the park said they have no comment at this time, as they have not viewed the lawsuit yet.

Not a shock, but I was surprised they did sue this fast.

This is one of the very few times that I agree with the family that is suing.

I hope the park can learn someting from this and maintain it better than they do .I think they are lucky something similar has not happen before now.
I hope the family gets a large settlement and I sure they will.

I think something needs to be given to this family as her life and theirs have changed forever.
