News: Teenager dies after coaster accident in Scotland

Jul. 17th, 2007 -- Mark Blackwood, 18, died after suffering injuries due to an accident Sunday morning on the Rat roller coaster at Loudoun Castle Theme Park in Scotland.

Blackwood was believed to be at the park on his day off and offered to help fix the coaster, which had broken down.  After he tried to push a train that had become stuck, it suddenly started to move again.  He was dragged to the top of the ride, lost his grip and fell 80ft.

The park was closed yesterday in honor of Blackwood.

An investigation into the accident and safety of the ride is ongoing.  The ride remains closed to the public.
