News: Update: Xtreme Swing at ValleyFair! closes after fire

Sep. 6th, 2007 -- At 9am this morning maintenance crews saw that a fire had started with the electrical box to one of the newest additions to ValleyFair!.

Workers tried to control the fire but ended up calling Shakopee Fire Department to put it out. The fire was put out at around 10:30am and until further inspection the ride will be shut down for the rest of the season.

Xtreme Swing is one of S&S creations of their giant Screamin' Swings.

ValleyFair! is open Friday, Saturdays and Sundays until October 28th for their halloween event. While the final day of operation is October 31st.

Update: The ride should re-open to the public hopefully by the weekend. Says park officials. 1:55pm.

A young male was caged in the building. He died. : ( Edit by Katie: Please send me a link and we can post the story.

I have posted the update because god forbid they change the outcome of the story when I was gone from home in two hours. For future reference, if there is an update to a story, please PM myself or Wes and we will update it. Otherwise, we don't know and you all don't have to be rude about it. Understood?
