Posted at 10:56 AM EDT (1456 GMT) Sep. 10th, 2007 -- Sunday afternoon, the "Two Face" inverted shuttle roller coaster at Six Flags America in Largo, MD, stopped automatically, stranding 28 riders for 40 minutes.
The incident was not serious, although the park does not know what caused the ride to stop automatically after hoisting riders nearly 100 feet in the air around 4:30pm. Rescue crews were called, and the ride was lowered. Park officials said that there were no injuries, although two people requested to be taken to the hospital as a precaution. This ride was involved in a similar incident in 2003, when a safety sensor stopped the ride from running, stranding riders in a similar fashion. There is no word on when the ride will reopen. Park and Prince George's County officials are conducting an investigation. Six Flags America is now closed for the regular season, opening only for private events until Halloween-themed "Fright Fest" kicks off October 6th.
