News: Kima Bay splashes into Holiday World in 2008

Posted at 12:15 PM EDT (1615 GMT)

Sep. 20th, 2007 -- Via Press Release: SANTA CLAUS, IN--A monkey-themed family waterplay attraction tops the list of $6 million in additions for Holiday World & Splashin' Safari in 2008.

Kima Bay, in Splashin' Safari, will feature seven water slides plus more than 100 water-play elements, including more than 125 water jets. The four-story interactive structure will be topped by a 1,200-gallon ever-filling, ever-tipping bucket of water.

"Kima is the Swahili word for monkey," says Holiday World & Splashin' Safari's president, Will Koch. "We think children will especially enjoy the fun monkey theming, nearly as much as all the climbing, splashing and sliding in store for them at Kima Bay."

Kima Bay will cost $1.7 million, part of the parks' $6 million expansion budget for 2008. Koch says he's still in the decision-making process regarding additional new attractions and infrastructure improvements; further details and announcements will be made on the parks' website and blog this fall. In addition, the website's new SplashCam will be renamed the Kima Bay Construction Cam during the off-season.

Koch says Kima Bay will add needed capacity, which is an ongoing priority, as attendance in 2007 will again surpass one-million guests. He predicts the need to hire an additional 50 seasonal employees for 2008.

Holiday World is open weekends through October 14. For more information, log on to www.holidayworld.com or call 1-877-Go-Family.

This looks like it will be a very nice addition to Splashin' Safari. Every waterpark need a structure like this.

I do think its a good addition, and I like how Splashin Safari gets something new about every year.

Should prove to be a nice addition these attractions get good Capacity. Though this isn't exactly a great looking attraction given the sketch. I hope the final product has a better look and more themeing.
