News: Carowinds posts Bondi Beach construction photos

Posted at 9:47 PM EST (0247 GMT)

Feb. 9th, 2008 -- Late last week Carowinds posted some new photos of the construction progress for the new Bondi Beach wave pool in the Boomerang Bay waterpark.

As can be seen from one of the photos, the new wave pool will be only feet from the forward side of Thunder Road.

Along with Bondi Beach, the expansion will include new retail and a chairside service to make relaxing by the pool even better.

Isn't part of the reason Six Flags gave for not running Flashback during the summer months the inability for lifeguards to hear near a coaster? If this is true, won't the same problem be happening here?

Don't lifeguards need to just watch the pool? I mean if someone is screaming in the pool I guess it would help to hear but I know its easier to see someone drowning than the hear it.

I would agree 100% TR makes alot of noise going into the turnaround so i could see it being a problem for the lifeguards.

Coasterguy, If the lifeguard isn't looking in that direction, a scream would direct their attention...

True but if the pool is about 20 ft away from the coaster and someone is screaming as the trains are raceing by i could see the lifeguard not hearing right away but only for about 5 sec and delay his responce by 5 sec.

5 sec is alot of time when someone is drowning. It might not even become that big of an issue. We're just pointing out that it could.

It's not like the coaster is going to make constant noise in one spot like Flash Back did. Flash Back was all in one spot, TR is an out and back.

I don't see this being a problem for life guards.

Very true. TR will only go by about every 3-5 min.
