Posted at 4:17 PM EST (2117 GMT)

Feb. 27th, 2008 -- Via Press Release: For the 41st time, Six Flags Over Georgia will open its gates to kids and kids at heart on March 1, 2008, and for the first time, kids 48" and under can get in FREE with the purchase of an adult ticket available only through participating Publix supermarkets. The park has many new attractions and activities for the season, including the launch of Thomas Town, an exciting new Thomas & Friends-themed area that brings Thomas the Tank Engine™ and many of his friends to the Southeast's largest regional theme park.

"This season, we really wanted to present an affordable entertainment option for families in metro Atlanta," said Park president Melinda Ashcraft. "With the free kids offer and the addition of Thomas Town, this is going to be a great season for families to come out and enjoy Six Flags Over Georgia."

Set to open in May, the Thomas the Tank Engine attraction includes a replica of Thomas with two passenger cars, Annie and Clarabel. Sir Topham Hatt, Controller of the Railway, will also be on hand to pose for photos and greet visitors. Thomas Town will also feature a playground area and a merchandise store where guests can purchase the latest Thomas & Friends™ apparel, books, toys and train sets.

Also new to the park this season is the addition of "40 Fun Things For Kids To Do." This listing highlights the numerous activities for kids to participate in while at the park, and includes elements such as the all new 3-Point Challenge basketball game, the Nintendo Wii™ Experience and the many kids rides such as those found in Bugs BunnyWorld.

Interesting tatic. Let the kiddies get in for free to attract more families. The parks make most of their money off of food and souveniers anyways, so why bother making the families pay more to get into the park.

And if you're under 48" you can't ride many rides anyways because the magic height is 54"

I think this is a very good idea. They are really working on improving their family image and this helps offset the high cost of parking.

Is it just free for opening day or all season? It would be a good idea if it were all season long.
