I hate to see anything happen to old coasters like this.
And I suspect it must have been arson. These things don't go up in flames on their own that much like they did in the old days.

Was the coaster set on fire or did the woods around it catch on fire and reached the coaster? If it was just the coaster then yeah i'd say it was arson.
Either way its horrible to hear and i really do hope they rebuild it.

It was the coaster that was set on fire - the woods are quite a distance back
Really upsetting as a lot of people wanted to tear it down but there is a dedicated group of people trying to protect it - and they are now raising funds to rebuild it. But, the really unfortunate thing about this is that is was to be expected - Margate really is the pits.

Mr. 500, I mean, James, did you ride this coaster? It a shame any of the old coasters are lost. In NJ we finally lost Jack Rabbit this past year but it was condemned for years it seemed. I watched a very slow POV of this ride. Still an interesting design.

Maybe ACE needs to get in on helping by donating.
I don't see that happening.

Lol 'Mr 500' more like Mr 510 ;)
Anyways, I did not get the chance to ride the coaster. I think it was already SBNO at the time.
