News: Trial over SFKK accident won't start early

Posted at 9:56 PM EDT (0156 GMT)

Sep. 22nd, 2008 -- The date won't be moved ahead in the trial of a girl whose feet were severed on a ride at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.

The family of Kaitlyn Lasitter requested the trial be moved earlier than Jan. 12, 2010, but the judge denied the request. Jefferson Circuit Judge Barry Willett said the date is reasonable, but he ordered the parties to attempt to resolve the claims before the pretrial in November 2009.

The family's lawyer said he wanted an earlier trial so the family could pay for Kaitlyn's rehabilitation.

Cables on Superman Tower of Power snapped on June 20, 2007, cutting off Kaitlyn's feet. Doctors reattached her right foot but had to have some of her left leg amputated.

SF should just pay the family 30 million and end this now. I feel for the family that they have to be draged through this horrible accident until 2010.

Yea, Six Flags should show some decency and pay them more than they need to be comfortable. The dispute on where that money comes from is between Six Flags and Intamin
