News: Celebration City closes for good

Posted at 10:02 PM EDT (0202 GMT)

Oct. 26th, 2008 -- Celebration City in Branson, Mo., closed for good Saturday, its last operating day of the season.

Herschend Family Entertainment said it is exploring different concepts for the park. Some ideas are an aquarium, retheming the park or having retail and dining on the site.

Celebration City opened in 2003 and featured three roller coasters, including Ozark Wildcat, a Great Coasters International woodie.

Herschend's president and chief executive editor cited the nation's poor economy and said the company needs to plan for the future.

I waited out on Missouri this year because of the then unknown Worlds of Fun coaster. This is not cool.

What the bleep! I didn't know this park was doing so poorly. I wonder where the coasters will go.
