News: Minor accident on Big Thunder Mountain

Posted at 11:25 PM EDT (0325 GMT)

Apr. 7th, 2004 -- Two trains collided on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland theme park over the weekend after the ride closed for the day. This comes just months after a derailing accident that left one person dead.

Cal-OSHA ordered the famous Anaheim theme park to retrain two employees who were running the ride at the time. The employees left a train on the track and rebooted the ride's program, resetting the locations of the trains. Those actions lead to the collision.

I think it is sad that this could happen again.

There's something seriously wrong with either the ride itself and/or those who operate the ride.

What's going on over there???

Why are employees allowed to reboot the ride system in the first place? That's something that maintenance folks should handle.
