News: Geauga Lake to honor Read to Succeed tix

Posted at 12:51 PM EDT (1651 GMT)

Apr. 23rd, 2004 -- At first, Geauga Lake told numerous school children they would not honor free admission passes from the "Read to Succeed" program. After much outcry, they changed their minds.

Many school children in the greater Cleveland area recieved tickets from Six Flags Worlds of Adventure for free admission as an award for reading. At first, Geauga Lake said they would not honor the tickets. Many negative compliants caused the park to soften their hearts and accept the tickets.

Geauga Lake wants to start off this season right, and they believe this is a step in that direction.

Good! I thought it was a stupid move to not let them use those tickets. I bet when they had that Read to Succeed thing going on, Cedar Fair knew well that they would be purchasing Six Flags Worlds of Adventure.

This is one good move. If they hadn't accepted those vouchers, all those kids would have read for nothing! ;)

I'm glad they did this, because I know I would have been pissed if I had done all that writing and wasn't going to be able to use the tickets.

Why would CF even think about not honoring those tickets? Seems like CF is trying to alienate the public (and doing a good job of pissing people off).
