News: City welcomes return of Geauga Lake

Posted at 4:47 PM EDT (2047 GMT)

May. 1st, 2004 -- Streetsboro, one of the fastest growing towns in Portage County, has welcomed the purchase of the former Six Flags property and its subsequent return of the Geauga Lake name.

According to Mark Pavlick, they are "extremely excited" about the purchase of Geauga Lake by Cedar Fair, and look forward to what Cedar Fair plans to bring to the park.

Geauga Lake's purchase by Cedar Fair was announced in March, and completed in April.  Cedar Fair has said that they intend to return the traditional family fun park back to the area.

They're probably hoping it will become as popular as Cedar Point and will bring in tons of tourists so the city can make a lot of money. I can't say I blame them though, I would probably be the same way.

^ That's probably a fair assessment. Money is all that matters these days and amusement parks are no exception.
