Posted at 1:13 PM EDT (1713 GMT) May. 5th, 2004 -- The owners of Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk have purchased a piece of San Fransisco history. The Laughing Sal, which used to be located at Playland-on-the-Beach amusement park, will soon be laughing obnoxiously on the Boardwalk this summer.
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk paid $50,000 for the obnoxious 5-foot tall woman, a far cry from it's original price of $360. Controversy caused a few bidders to drop out, saying that this Laughing Sal was not authentic. For more information: The San Fransisco Gate Related Article: Laughing Sal to be auctioned
