Dec. 10th, 2003 --
People who donated money to the Save Whalom Park fund will soon be receiving
their money back from the "whales." The future of the park is still in limbo two
whole years after the campaign began, and despite money raised from selling
"whales," the group is not much closer to saving the park than they were at the
beginning.
Allyson Bowen posted a letter to the main page of Save Whalom Park recently thanking
contributors for their whale donations, but also stating that monies will be
returned with letters on Tuesday, December 9th. Saving the park is still a
high priority as the group is currently persuing other avenues of doing so.
Other projects to save parks and amusement zones are still in progress if you
desire to donate to a similiar cause. For example, members of Save Tillie are
working to save properties in Asbury Park including the historic Palace.
Recently they managed to salvage the rotating drum from the funhouse as nearly
all the amusements are being removed from the inside of the building for
reconstruction.
