News: Developers announce plan for MB Pavilion

Posted at 5:05 PM EDT (2105 GMT)

May. 14th, 2004 -- Weber Reality Investors announced their plan for what they would like to do with the land Myrtle Beach Pavilion currently occupies. The plan calls for destruction of the park, but the addition of at least one roller coaster in the future.

The roller coaster would weave around hotels, shops, an amphitheatre ans restaurants as a tribute to Myrtle Beach Pavilion amusement park. There is also a possiblity of another coaster themed to NASCAR being added with many other ideas.

While none of this is set in stone, the plan took a step forward when it was backed by current park owners and the Downtown Redevelopment Corporation. The plan will likely be examined and changed before it is finalized.

I wouldn't have a big problem with tearing down the park if this was the plan they used. If they tear it down and add a bunch of stores, then I would have a problem.

Well... I didn’t think the park was very good anyway. So I don’t have a problem with this plan. I wouldn’t mind seeing some shops and more restaurants over there, that’s not the best part of Myrtle Beach; maybe this would make the area a little nicer.
