News: Grand Junction parks compete for guests

Posted at 9:04 AM EDT (1304 GMT)

Jun. 21st, 2004 -- Fun Junction began operating 50 years ago as a minature golf course. Bananas Fun Park opened this spring with a challenging minature golf course, batting cages, and a large indoor arcade. Because of this second park, Grand Junction now has some competition in its amusement industry and the eventual winners are park guests.

Guests of different ages tend to be attracted to one park or the other, with younger patrons tending to prefer Fun Junction over Bananas. Bananas focuses on children 9-years-old and up. Both parks have been planning and adding new attractions.

Fun Junction plans on adding new rides and keeping costs down in hopes of keeping patrons coming back, while Bananas hopes to add some of the attractions that they have seen at trade shows and "Bump N Jump" rides in the near future.

For a detailed review of each including location and pricing, see the Grand Junction Sentinel.
