Jul. 4th, 2004 -- I was thinking of writing a blow-by-blow review of the still unnamed Maurer-Sohne Xtended SC2000, but the ride is different every time. The only "flaw" of the ride is that it shimmies as it runs along the high-banked hairpin turn. However, it doesn't take away from a very fun ride. The spinning is not as intense as one would think, and that's probably a good thing. I give it a 9 out of 10, it's a ride that will leave you smiling and laughing.
As far as the name of the ride, it is supposed to be announced on July 9th. The cars and a blank sign feature fire-breathing dragons on them. I hope the park isn't planning on naming it Spinning Dragons. ;) Highlights: - If you're lucky enough to sit backwards (cars do not spin until the second hill), the first drop and ascent to the second hill is an odd and refreshing feeling.
- The "slalom" section is very fun if you spin through it. The slalom section runs under the hairpin turn and is basically a few small "S-bends"
- The helix is the highlight of the ride if you spin through it. It's a very unique experience that just can't be duplicated.
Pictures: 17 pictures of the ride, click here. In short, Waldameer amusement park has a real winner in this ride. The ride takes up a very small space, it's good enough to bring back visitors for extra visits, and it's something that can serve as an anchor ride for the park until Ravine Flyer II gets built...hopefully.
