Finance: Arnold's Park shows financial progress

Posted at 10:18 AM EDT (1418 GMT)

Jul. 14th, 2004 -- Arnold's Park in Iowa has seen a 19.5% increase in revenue over last year, bringing in $596,000 through the end of June. The small amusement park has a net operating gain of $77,000 for this season.

Last year, the park lost $146,000. This year, a combination of the revenue increase and trimmed expenses have yielded a nice profit for the Coney Island-inspired park.

Arnold's Park still has a $1.7 million debt that they incurred to prevent housing developments being build in 1999. The park is developing a business plan to resolve the debt.

I'm glad to hear this park is doing well. Hopefully they can make enough in the next few years to get rid of the debt.

I've been hearing of a bunch of smaller parks going under---nice to hear one is doing well.
