Well, here it comes. Let the lawsuits begin. Once again we are dealing with oversensitive people.

Yeah...Oversensitive. What's a little wire in the ear. Suck it up and be a man.
Are you kidding me? CP should have been kissing those people's butts! Sure, they didn't lose any limbs or lives, but come on!
I think if your ride malfunctions and throws metal shavings into someone, you should swallow your pride and at least attempt to show some decent customer service.
I'm not saying they should sue, but CP should be treating them like kings.
But hey, that's just me.

I wouldn't say people are oversensitive when they are bleeding all over and the ops aren't taking them seriously.

Did anyone see the pieces of wire? How could that cause bleeding all over?

Anything projected at 120mph, depending on how embedded it is, and how it enters, can cause bleeding, especially when there's several projectiles affected.
I do agree that treatment of them could have been better.

From there account the treatment could have been better, That is a very one sided story, as is all news these days. I don't doubt them, but I don't, and more than likely will never have CP side.
Wire in ear, hhmmmm, were in the ear, there are some very serious places it could be lodged in the ear and some very unserios places. I am an Audio Engineer, I record music for a living, I know how delicate the ear can be and is. In the end, as with all coaster accidents, important details, specifics, are left out. And I am sure that is for a reason. That fact that wire even got in his ear is an issue though.
Wether they were or were not treated properly is entirely the opinion of that person. I live in Cleveland and have to say, I have a hard time believing anything any local news broadcasts.

Ok, Now the media is blowing out of proportion, again. Some kids got hurt, sorry, but suck it up like someone else said. Your allowed to be aggrivated a little but don't be a little cry baby about it. At least the article said pinhole size. I know one thing, those kids will be made so much fun of when they go back to school in September. Known as the Top Wimps-on Dragster

Very true, track_six, the local news in the Cleveland area is horrible, especially channel 19 news.
as for the treatment, it sounds like it could have been a little bit better, but we really don’t have any way of knowing for sure how they were treated.

“She was like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ She just panicked. And I said, ‘What, what?’ Because I didn't even feel it because going that fast, it just goes in and you don't feel anything,” Jones said.
The group said they were made to stay on the ride for several minutes before only two of them were taken to First Aid. It was their treatment after the accident that upset them most. At one point, concerned that there could still be metal under their skin, they asked about tetanus shots and were told they didn't need them, Harvey reported.
“When I began to argue with the man about it and say, ‘Well if we take him to the hospital and make sure this isn't in their body and get them a tetanus shot, will Cedar Point be paying for the bill?’ Then he gave them their tetanus shots,” James said.
The riders are talking with their parents and may consider a lawsuit against the amusement park.
^What a bunch of pussys. Taking advantage of the system. That is the way they handle these situations, It was just some metal. They took it out, and put on a few band-aids. So what. The metal was obviously not rusty, so they wouldn't need tetanus shots.
I hate TV stations like that. They sensationalize. The Philly stations are the same way, they are probably the same way everywhere. TV news just isn't the same as it was before.

I honestly don't think they are over-stating anything. They were hit by *metal* shards at around 120 mph. They go on that ride feeling safe and secure and come off of it bleeding. I don't like hearing that my favorite park may not have treated them with any respect, but I have to believe these guys. One guy has a new earring. With park service being serious on CP's mind, I am amazed at what I'm hearing.

I would really like to see those of you calling these people "pussies" get hit with shards of metal at 120mph, then we'll see if you think the same way.

^ I totally agree. None of you people know what exacctly that feels like. Pussies? I know that you probably say something about it when you get hit in the eye with a bug on coasters, try getting hit with metal like these people did. We'll see who are the wimps then.

I already know the lawsuit is coming, that's a given.
The way CP messed up this one, was by only offering FOTL passes for TTD, and that is what the media is reporting on TV and in the articles.
Dick himself should have been there sending the kids to the hospital, saying free passes, free hotel, free stay. Instead the kids were interviewed showing only their FOTL passes and telling how they needed to visit the hospital for a tetanus shot.
It's one thing for someone to cut themselves in the park, and need attention. It's another when it happens on TTD with all the hype.
I think they mis judged the attention this would get.
Oh, and we need an official TTD update thread, talking about work progress, and estimated opening dates.

Are you serious, steve?? Some of the most fatal diseases can be caused by the tinyest of wounds on the human body. Anytime a rider is injured on a ride, it should be taken extremely serious and I agree with Jumbo Jet that cedar point should have been kissing their butts, and making them feel as comfortable as possible, rather than not taking it very seriously. I'm sorry, but I would have crapped my pants if I saw a wire sticking out of someone's ear after getting off of a ride like that. That's something most of us only dream about happening, but would never imagine it actually occuring. Personally, I hope that I never ride a ride that you operate if that is the kind of attitude that you have towards people injured on rides.

If you are going 125 mph someone is going to get hit by something. It just statistics- if you take a couple million people a year something will happen. With a ride as incredible as Top Thrill it takes some time to determine what the risks are. There are plenty of things to do to make the ride safer- eye protection and helmets for starters... (for the real dragster feel) Even a dragonfly at 125 mph could blind a person. But dismantling such a great ride would be a tragedy. And holding CP management responsible for the actions of a few EMS employees seems unreasonable. They are just employees- they aren't trained on how to handle the politics of something like this. What are you supposed to do? Say oh we designed the ride wrong, sorry. It's an accident- learn from it. When you go to a baseball game you run the risk of getting hit by a foul ball. When you go to the park you run the risk of a tree falling on you. Life has risks deal with it. If I were on a jury I wouldn't give them a dime. Too many people worked too hard to make CP the greatest park on Earth. Letting something like this spoil it would be a real shame.

I can't believe that anyone would call them wimps or insult them. They were hit with metal objects at incredibly fast speed. You don't expect that to happen when you ride a coaster. I don't know for sure if the treatment was as bad as they say, but Cedar Point should've done everything in their power to make the situation as easy as possible.

Quite frankly it all looks good on the news. People get excited about accidents and it brings up the TV ratings. Why do you think NASCAR is so popular? Someone might crash, so folks tune in.
I broke a rib on Shockwave at PKD once. I went home, went to the hospital, and I was better 6 weeks later. I didn't litigate, and I didn't expect King's Dominion to pay for it.

Wow...just...wow! You have some nerve calling others "pussys". I'm sure you'd be crying your eyes out if the same thing happened to you. Also, the people WOULD need tetanus shots as a result (unless the riders recently received the shot).
On one of the news channels here, the reporter said that CP was doing everything possible to please the guests and wasn't trying to sweep this situation under the rug.
